Placement training & social work learning opportunities

Norden Hills Family Centre had their first student social worker in June 2025. We provide student placements which offer:

  • Mandatory Training
  • Social Work Learning Opportunities
  • Child Protection Work
  • Multidisciplinary Work
  • Opportunities to Develop Knowledge and Skills Related to Working with Children and Adults
  • Opportunities to Develop Skills Supporting Parents with Their Parenting
  • Opportunities to be involved in assessments of parents.

Ethos

Our ethos is to work towards keeping families together as this is in the child’s interests. We aim to be child focused at all times but to support families to effect change and to work with respect and to treat them with dignity at all times. The staff and client group is extremely diverse and service users may have English as a second language and have complex immigration issues; assessments often have aspects of cultural sensitivity; Students must have a strong commitment to Anti-oppressive practice.
